“Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has named Siobhan McKenna – the former top lieutenant to Lachlan Murdoch (of Fox news fame) – as Australia’s next consul-general in New York, securing one of the country’s plum diplomatic postings”, according to the Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) on 21 September. 

In reality, McKenna does not care about Australia. She is a gun for hire without principles — a typical Murdoch family flunky who would betray anyone if it personally benefited her. Australians in New York should be wary of her!

According to the SMH, “McKenna was named in US court documents this year as the ‘driving force’ behind the plan to reshape Rupert Murdoch’s family trust and cement his eldest son’s control of the News Corp and Fox Corporation empire. 

According to the SMH, Albanese “has maintained a close relationship” with Lachlan Murdoch. “McKenna was widely regarded within News Corp as being the ‘Albo whisperer’. 

Journalists and commentators in the Murdoch owned “The Australian” newspaper have rarely had anything good to say about Albanese and the Labor Party. Albanese might think the appointment will in some way curry some favour and improve his coverage.

But Murdoch journalists and commentators like promoting divisions in Australian society — so I suspect Albanese will be disappointed.
