Adolf Hitler learns about AI: Martin Bormann, Adolf Hitler’s secretary walked into Hitler’s office and told him about reports of “Artificial Intelligence” from rocket man Werner von Braun.
Hitler was especially intrigued when told that it can lead to “abundance” and new weapons to fight war – and so ordered Albert Speer, the Minister of Armaments and War Production, to investigate and take charge of AI in Germany.
Josef Goebbels, chief of Propaganda, objected to Speer being in charge because he had heard that AI made great movies that showed himself and Hitler walking on water together while God smiled from above. Goebbels wanted to run AI in Germany. It would “trump all other films, he explained!
Heinrich Himmler, head of the SS, told Hitler that he should be in charge of AI because he had heard that it could lead to “extinction of human race” – and if managed the right way would help him in his own extinction activities in Europe and beyond.
Hermann Goering, who always wanted to be in charge of everything, thought he could use AI to actually manage everything while he sat at home eating and counting his gold bars and diamonds. Of course, he could not say this to Hitler, so he said that he had the biggest brain and so was best able to understand AI because it is was about replicating the physical human brain on a large scale.
Hitler listened to all these claims and thought they had equal validity – so he could not decide who to put in charge of AI. Then he had a thought: “If this AI is so smart it should be able to help me decide how to manage the competing egos and emotions of these men.” He called Werner von Braun into his office and von Braun said he would consult AI using his “links to the stars”. Hitler was confused by this statement but, nevertheless, told him to go ahead.
A little later von Braun came back and quoted the the answer that AI gave: “I have reviewed all the information about these men. Human emotions and relationship are very difficult and I am confused. Please do not ask what these men think about when having sex with their wives! You need to ask a psychologist who really understands people – maybe ask Adolf Hitler!”
Hitler laughed, and asked: “The AI referred to “I” — like a person? Male, female or trans?”
